Huebsch: Walker’s Top Priority for New Money is More Tax Cuts

By Wisconsin School Administrators Alliance staff | February 11, 2015

From WisPolitics:

A number of GOP lawmakers have said they want to see any increases in expected revenues over the next two years to go toward K-12 education, the UW System or lowering bonding for transportation.

But DOA Secretary Mike Huebsch said at a WisPolitics.com luncheon yesterday the guv’s No. 1 priority for any new money is more tax cuts.

“Putting more money in the pockets of the people who earn it has been something that from the beginning Gov. Walker, even when he was in the Legislature, recognized continues to spur economic growth,” Huebsch said.

Assembly Speaker Robin Vos, R-Rochester, said in response to Huebsch’s comments he would be open to additional tax cuts if May re-estimates found a significant windfall coming the state’s way. But short of that, there are other priorities.

“I am always looking for ways to put more money in the hands of Wisconsin families,” Vos said. “But I also want to guarantee that we have the very best education and university system possible, so a lot of it depends on what the numbers are.”
