Evers Signs Education Bills; Vetoes One

Governor Evers yesterday signed five education-related bills into law and vetoed one other.  The SAA position on each of these bills appears in bold at the end of each entry below. SB-235 Schools (Bradley, Julian) Measuring a school district’s improvement for the school and school district accountability report. Signed (Act 212SAA supports.

SB-398 Observance Days (Bradley, Julian) Special observance days in schools. Signed (Act 213) SAA no position.

SB-589 Reading Test License (Darling, Alberta) The Foundations of Reading test licensure requirement. Signed (Act 214) SAA supports.

SB-828 Early Learning (Darling, Alberta) Administration of the online early learning pilot program in the 2022-23 school year. Signed (Act 215) SAA no position.

SB-833 Teaching Grants (Kooyenga, Dale) Grants to support the teaching of college courses in high schools and making an appropriation. Signed (Act 217) SAA supports.

Vetoed

SB-597 Kindergarten (Wanggaard, Van) Early admission to kindergarten and first grade at a private school participating in a parental choice program. Vetoed (Link) SAA no position.
